Hoops Win on the Road, Poised for Winning Record

DU men’s hoops traveled to Vermilion, South Dakota and took on the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. The Pioneers left Vermilion with a ‘W”, 76-71. You can find the game recap on the DU Athletic Website.

DU can finish the regular season with a winning record.

Nearly impossible to envision at the start of the season, the Pioneers can move to 15 – 14 with a win next weekend against North Dakota State at Magness. It hasn’t been an easy ride or pretty at times as the team has experimented with different rotations and substituted liberally. They have had to overcome some heartbreaking losses along with suspension and injury. Still, they are a team that just ‘hangs around’ – and they got a well deserved road win today.

It was poetic justice that they were led by senior Marcus Byrd and freshman Joe Rosga – a blend of the past and a glimpse into DU’s basketball future.

Now they are poised to earn a winning regular season next Saturday at Magness on Senior Day for Bryant Rucker, Nate Engesser, and the surging Marcus Byrd.
