WATCH: Jim Montgomery talks Game 1 victory over Colorado College

The top-ranked University of Denver Pioneers took Game One of the NCHC Tournament first round best-of-three series from the Colorado College Tigers last night with a 4-1 win. They had to overcome a slow, disjointed first period to do it, but they did what the had to do with a strong second period performance.

DU head coach Jim Montgomery was pleased with his team’s 60-minute effort and is looking for more of the same tonight in Game Two.

In his postgame scrum, Montgomery talked at length about what he liked to see from his team, the chippiness toward the end of the game last night, and the dominant 3-point performance from American Hero Troy Terry. Watch below:

DU and CC square off again tonight. Should DU win again, it will be the final game at Magness Arena this year.  A Denver win will also clinch the Pioneers’ fourth straight appearance in the NCHC Frozen Faceoff. Puck drop is slated for 7PM this evening. Tickets are still available right here.
