The Founder, Damien Goddard launches Chicago social schedule for Frozen Four

Photo: Sheraton Grand ChiBar

Below is the schedule of social events orchestrated by LetsGoDU founder Damien Goddard for the Frozen Four weekend. Obviously, all the Chicago events are optional (except the game(s) of course). But, you do not want to miss Thursday afternoon at Howells & Hood (1-5pm) and the official University of Denver reception and watch (6:30-8:30pm) at Park Tavern.

If you can make it to any of these events, we’ll see you there. Of course, food and drinks for unofficial events are the responsibility of each attendee.

Wednesday 4-6:00pm  ChiBar, Sheraton Grand Hotel, 301 E North Water St, Chicago, IL

The University of Denver will distribute Frozen Four tickets at 4 PM in the Lobby of the Sheraton Grand Hotel.  The Sheraton Grand is the Official Hotel for all four schools. That would make the Sheraton Grand ChiBar the “Official Bar of the Frozen Four” so we’ll kick off the weekend from 4-6 PM at ChiBar.

Thursday 1-5pm Howells & Hood, 435 N Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL

Want to get a jump-start on the day or planning to go to the early game -Harvard vs. Duluth? Go to the LetsGoDU/Boone Pep Rally featuring Free Boone Posters, Photos with Boone & Boone T-Shirts For Sale: Lunch & drinks at Howells & Hood. Located on “Pioneer Plaza” nestled under the Tribune Building near the Chicago River, Howells & Hood has room for 700 patrons. Howells & Hood features Modern American food, the largest craft beer selection in Chicago, and impressive staff.

Thursday: 6:30 – 8:30pm Official University of Denver Reception, Park Tavern, 1645 W. Jackson Blvd, Chicago, IL

DU’s official pregame reception starts at 6:30 p.m. and the venue will remain open for the DU watch party throughout the game. Note: Be sure to pre-register (that’s clickable) for the University of Denver reception and watch parties!

Thursday 8:30 – 10:45pm Denver vs. Notre Dame – United Center

Thursday 10:45pm + Broken Shaker Bar, Freehand Hotel, 19 East Ohio St., Chicago, IL The postgame action will move to the Broken Shaker-voted best hotel bar in Chicago. Located in the Freehand hotel in downtown Chicago, spirited mixology meets handcrafted cocktails.

Friday Lunch 12:00 – 2:00pm  Le Pho Restaurant, 4925 North Broadway, Chicago, IL

Friday @ Noon lunch will be held at the Family-Owned Le’s Pho Restaurant on North Broadway several miles from downtown Chicago.  The Bring Back Boone Committee has ties to the restaurant and many backroom deals will be done while dining on Bahn Mi & Pho.

Friday Dinner 7:30pm Bebu Pizzeria, 1521 N Fremont St, Chicago, IL

Located in Lincoln Park, Bebu Pizzeria is owned by a DU Alum Zach Smith.  We’ll aim to meet there at 7:30 PM, but expect a wait.

  1. This Event Schedule will be challenging for even the most hardened Frozen Four Veterans. Sure there are some layups like the Vietnamese lunch at Le Pho, but the always difficult Manhattans at the Broken Spoke will trap even the savvy alums.

  2. This is an ambitious schedule. I like it! Looking forward to Howells & hood for my first stop on the DG tour. Are there 57-cent drink specials at any of these places?

  3. No 57-cent drinks – but all patrons please be advised that you will be denied service if you are wearing yellow and black.

  4. I’ve just been informed that DU Alum David Flom owns Chicago Cut Steakhouse. So if you’re looking for an upscale breakfast, lunch or dinner check them out. I think we just found our Wednesday night spot.

Open til 2 AM 7 days a week. Amazing.

  5. Maybe either the Steak or Pizza joint has windows where we can display and leave Boone posters in windows. Better yet, a place to hang MegaBoone?
