One of the most beloved mascots in baseball, Mr. Met, was relieved of his duties. An employee playing the Mets iconic mascot was abruptly fired when video surfaced of the flipping off fans in New York’s 7-1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.
A person tweeted a three-second video of the incident, which soon went viral online, and the club quickly issued a statement.
‘We apologize for the inappropriate action of this employee,’ the Mets said in an email attributed to the organization. ‘We do not condone this type of behavior. We are dealing with this matter internally.’
While the employee was likely let go by the Mets, fear not. A different employee will be donning the Mr. Met oversized baseball head and costume for future home games.
As always, LetsGoDU will keep you updated on any breaking mascot news around the globe.

Mr. Met? How have female Met’s fans survived for over 50 years . This is so discriminatory and non-inclusive. However, I see the silver lining here. I believe we can put to rest the DU Mascot issue. At men’s games, we have Mr. Boone. At women’s games, we have Ms. Boone.
