January 5th, 2017 – The new year opened with ‘American Hero’ Troy Terry winning the World Junior Hockey Championship with a slick 5-hole shot in OT. Terry’s heroics followed another 5-hole shootout gem against the Russians in semifinal action.

January 6th, 2017 – DU soccer star Kortne Ford signs with the Colorado Rapids of the MLS.February 4th, 2017 – DU men’s hoops wins an OT thriller at Magness arena 76-73 against Fort Wayne in early season Summit League action.

March 11th, 2017 – Denver Skiing entered the final day of NCAA action with a 34.5 point lead. Victory seemed assured with only women’s freestyle remaining, a DU strength. However, Denver fell back in the finale and dropped to 3rd place behind Utah and Colorado.

April 7th, 2017 – Will Butcher wins the Hobey Baker award as college hockey’s best player.

April 8th, 2017 – Denver wins 8th hockey title with a 3-2 win over Minnesota-Duluth at Chicago’s United Center.

April 14th, 2017 – DU gymnastics makes a run to the NCAA semifinals behind the heroics of Freshman superstar Maddie Karr and senior Julia Ross.

April 22, 2017 – DU men’s lacrosse earns the #1 seed in the Big East Tournament with a dominating 12-2 win over Providence. This concluded another Big East undefeated regular season for the Pioneers.

May 20th, 2017 – DU men’s lacrosse crushes Notre Dame 16-4 in NCAA quarterfinals. Trevor Baptists wins 21-22 faceoffs.

May 29th, 2017 – A diving Connor Donohue last second  “no goal” ended a 9-8 NCAA semifinal loss to eventual national champions Maryland.

June 2, 2017 – Jim Montgomery withdraws his name from the Florida Panthers’ coaching search and returns to the Denver Pioneers.

June 29th, 2017 – Pioneers finish 5th in the Capital One Standings against all Division I men’s athletic departments in the nation.

August 23rd, 2017 – DU’s Vice Chancellor of Athletics and Recreation, Peg Bradley-Doppes, announces her intention to retire June 30th, 2018.

September 2, 2017 – Furman stops DU’s 37 straight regular season win streak in the 109th minute of OT at CIBER Field.

October 27th, 2017 – A Troy Terry goal with 16 seconds remaining breaks a tie on the road against rival Boston University.

October 28th, 2017 – An Andre Shinyashiki goal with 16 seconds remaining stuns rival UNO to clinch the Summit League regular season title and return the conference tournament to Denver in 2018.

October 30th, 2017 – Campus Lounge reopens to a thud – at least for sports fans.

November 4th, 2017 – DU women return to the NCAA playoffs with a late goal from Angelica Pacheco to give Denver a 2-1 to give DU the conference tournament victory. Eight days later, DU battled CU to a 2-1 loss in Boulder during first-round NCAA action.

November 18th, 2017 – DU women’s volleyball powers past Oral Roberts for their 4th consecutive Summit League title and trip to the NCAA’s.

November 29th, 2017 – Denver drills favorite Wyoming in men’s hoops 88-78 at Magness Arena.
