Game Notes: Denver (1-1) faces Abilene Christian (2-0) tonight at Magness Arena. The Wildcats made the jump to NCAA Division I the 2013-14 season and joined the Southland Conference. They have defeated Arlington Baptist and Arkansas State in non-conference play this season, averaging 100.5 ppg.. The Wildcats are picked to finish 4th in their 13-team conference this season.

- Could this be a ‘trap game’ following the K-State game?
- Denver’s five freshman have been getting significant playing time. Which of the five do you want to see on the floor tonight?
- Will the Pioneers reduce their turnovers against the fast paced Wildcats (They had 17 against K-State)?
So … turnovers just aren’t getting better. And really, really awful freethrow shooting. I don’t care how good your defense is, what kind of horrid officiating you have to overcome (yes, there were several bad calls) you can only blame this on a complete lack of focus on the fundamentals. Ball control, free throws, these are pretty basic things. I won’t fault the Pios for the other team’s good 3 point shooting, that happens and good shooters have a knack for getting free for those shots, but 2 of 11 free throws and 15 turnovers … c’mon man.
