University of Denver on Cutting Edge of COVID-19 Antibody Test

One of the primary goals outlined by Chancellor Jeremy Haefner was to turn the University of Denver into a widely recognized, leading research university. Now, it looks like DU may be on the cutting edge of a new COVID-19 antibody testing technology that supports that ambitious goal.

According to Denver 9News, “Scientists at the University of Denver’s (DU) Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging, in collaboration with two other research entities, have developed and tested a new and highly sensitive antibody test for COVID-19 that is so accurate, it can predict if a patient will experience “mild” COVID symptoms versus more “severe” symptoms.”

The new test could, potentially, save lives by identifying those patients most ‘at-risk’ and provide them with more immediate support. A truly amazing accomplishment that may hold global promise during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The breakthrough antibody test has already received an Emergency Use Authorization from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration.
