Denver women’s lacrosse (#5, 5-4 MPSF) traveled to Eugene, Oregon and downed the the Oregon Ducks (#6, 4-4 MPFS) 11-9 to earn an automatic berth at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation playoffs in Stanford, California April 28th – May 1st. The increasingly dangerous Pioneers finished their league season by winning 3 in a row. The final remaining league games will determine seeding for the tournament. In Florida, state officials issued their first-ever requirement for girls to wear protective hard helmets in lacrosse. The changes have sparked a firestorm by players and coaches who believe the headgear requirement is unnecessary. Already, modified girls rules attempt to limit physical contact. Following a perfect Saturday for Lacrosse, a winter storm roared into Denver. No need to worry – the next home game, The Faceoff Classic, is not until February 27th. The DU women start home play on Friday, February 12th against Colorado. It might be 70 and sunny by then.
