WATCH: Jim Montgomery discusses sweep of Western Michigan

The Pioneers swept Western Michigan this weekend with 3-1 and 4-2 victories at Magness Arena. Denver was the dominant team for much of the weekend, but Western’s clutch defense and timely offense kept them in both games right up until the final seconds of both games.

Everything seemed to come together this weekend for the Pios. Dylan Gambrell came back from an upper-body injury a full two weeks before he was expected to, Henrik Borgström is starting to look like the freshman wunderkind most expected him to be, and there is a growing chemistry between Gambrell, Borgström, and captain Will Butcher. in short, the two wins aside, this was a very good weekend for the Pioneers and head coach Jim Montgomery knows it.

Watch his comments after the second of the two-game sweep below:

Denver has a bye week next weekend before they head to Grand Forks the week after to take on archrival North Dakota in their only meeting of the year.
