Denver men’s (6-2-0) and women’s (15-1-1, 14-1-1) soccer teams are on the verge of securing two NCAA bids this weekend.

The Summit League’s auto-bid goes to the winner of the men’s soccer regular season since there is no postseason tournament. Denver had to cancel Thursday night’s game against Omaha (5-2-1) due to COVID-19 concerns so the bid goes to Denver if the Pioneers can defeat the Mavericks at CIBER Field at 1:00 pm Sunday (or if the game is also canceled due to COVID as the conference will now be determined by points-per-game rather than total points).

Omaha (8-4-5, 8-4-4) is hosting the Summit League women’s soccer tournament, the winner of which will get the Summit League’s auto-bid to the NCAA Tournament. Denver women’s soccer used first-half goals by Kaitlyn Glover and Sydney Sharp to down South Dakota in the Summit League semifinals Thursday in Omaha. On the other side of the bracket, Omaha defeated South Dakota State in a shootout to set up another Denver-Omaha matchup in the finals to determine the Summit League champion. The match is set for 3 pm MT on Saturday at Omaha’s Caniglia Field.

The Denver women are ranked #25 nationally and still could qualify for the NCAA Tournament if they lose tomorrow, though an at-large bid out of the Summit is always a bit of a long shot, but especially this year. The women’s NCAA Tournament playoff bracket this season will consist of 48 teams, with 31 automatic qualifiers and only 17 at-large selections. Normally, the bracket size for the women’s soccer tournament is 64 teams, with four teams advancing to the site of the finals.
