All of Denver’s goodwill built by the 4-0 start against Arizona State and Air Force is gone as the #11 Denver Pioneers (4-4-0, 0-2-0) fell to the #8 North Dakota Fighting Hawks for the second straight night in Grand Forks, 4-1. Magnus Chrona played decently well both nights in net but the country’s best offense coming into the weekend was held to just two goals in two games and have scored three over their last three.

Another harsh road weekend for this young Pio team…
I had predicted this team would take some lumps, and the last four games have been just that…
Right now, DU is an average hockey team, and they have not yet shown they can beat a top 10 team.
Right now, everything with DU inconsistent – the scoring, defense, special teams and goaltending.
That happens with young teams. Is it time to panic? No – we are barely out of October.
I would to see some signs of learning and improvement, and some home games coming up will hopefully help them right the ship…
Aweful officiating. Homer for sure
If anyone has homer officiating its DU, let’s be real here. It’s “awful” by the way not aweful.
In the last 3 games, DU has been outscored 12-3. I am hard pressed to find any areas of their game which are trending in the right direction. This is starting to look like what happened in Omaha last year. At this point, I don’t know if I would call this team “average”. We can all speculate at what the problem (s) are. I know that coaching and leadership had better address the problems before the season gets away from them.
