Sure, there was some other sporting event going on today, but before that big game, Denver gymnastics had a great meet at home versus Iowa State and SEMO.
As a team, DU scored their second highest score of the year with a 197.775. Just 0.225 off of their season high, and tied for 5th highest team score in DU history. Hutchinson has beaten her all around record twice already this year and today was another career moment. She scored a 9.975 on vault, 9.9 on bars, 9.95 on beam, and a perfect 10 on floor.
Fellow senior Rosie Casali also hit a career all around high with a 39.375. Freshman Madison Ulrich tied her career high all around score of 39.55 in another strong performance.
DU had a few lineup changes from last week. Senior Bella Mabanta reentered the beam lineup. Senior Rylie Mundell did not compete on beam or floor. The team is showing how strong their depth is this year, which bodes well for their ability to stay in the single digit rankings.
There was a score in a football game or something too. But DU gymnastics increased their average team score by a tenth of a point, which will push their rank up a couple of positions. This 197.775 proves that last week’s 198 was not a fluke. These are the scores we want to see DU continue to hit as the season progresses!
