Sara Rask did it again, this time in the Giant Slalom. The Pioneer senior sat in the second spot after her first run but delivered the best second run to seize the NCAA Giant Slalom title. CU’s Magdalena Luczak was leading after the first run but scored a DNF on her second run. The victory for Rask stacked National Championship titles in both women’s Slalom and GS – an incredible accomplishment.
Her teammate, Mia Hunt, did her part too, adding a 10th-place finish to give DU first place in the overall event with 61 points with only two skiers. DU continues to deliver outstanding results in the Alpine disciplines.
The men had an excellent GS Day as well with two finishers in the Top 10 which includes Thomas Hoffman (9th) and Pietro Motterlini (10). DU’s Loic Chable finished in a respectable 17 position to finish 4th overall team in the men’s event.
All in all, a solid team day on the slopes for the Crimson & Gold. After three days, Denver still sits in the fifth slot with the tough Utes pulling into first place heading into the final day Saturday. It looks like the Utes, traditionally strong in Nordic events, are headed for their 16th-team title under the NCAA umbrella. The dark-horse could be Dartmouth with the home-field advantage.
The 2025 NCAA Championships conclude tomorrow in New Hampshire with the men’s and women’s Nordic Freestyle events. Maybe, just maybe the Pioneers can spoil CU’s chances to claim the tp spot on the final day.
Again, a special Day to have Sara Rask on the top of the podium for a second time at the 2025 NCAA Championships – a great accomplishment. What an incredible way to conclude her senior season of competition as a Pioneer.
