Denver (1-10, 0-4) faced Oral Roberts University (8-6, 5-1) Saturday afternoon in a rematch. Once again, Denver was ice cold from the field and turned the ball over 16 times in the nine-point loss to ORU. Despite the final result, Denver continues to show resilience, continually battling back from deficits to make games close in the final minutes but unable to finish games with a ‘W’.
Oral Roberts Pulls Away Late, 88-84
Oral Roberts University (7-6, 4-1) played Denver (1-9, 0-3) Friday afternoon. The DU game plan was to contain Oral Roberts’ big three – Kevin Obanor (20.5 ppg.), Max Abmas (21.0 ppg.) and RJ Glaspar (10.3 ppg) who have collectively accounted for 59 percent of the Golden Eagles scoring this season, including 87 percent of all Golden Eagles points over the last five games. The Pioneers held Obanor at bay (11 points) but 34 points from Abmas and 14 by Glaspar were enough to earn a tight victory for the visitors, 88-84. North Dakotans Adjust to Remote Hockey
Avid Fighting Hawk hockey fans are used to taking to the road to support their beloved hockey team. This year is more difficult with social distancing leaving fans at home. We wanted to see just how well North Dakota fans were adjusting to the ‘new normal’.

DU Skiing to Host DU Invitational in Aspen
Denver skiing is set to begin the 2021 season this weekend when they host the Denver Invitational in Aspen. Men’s and women’s giant slalom and slalom will be contested this weekend. The following weekend, the men and women will compete in freestyle and classic at Minturn. Due to COVID-19 protocols, alpine and Nordic skiers will not compete in similar locations until the NCAA Ski Championships in New Hampshire.

Leading to Tuesday night’s gold medal final against the United States, team Canada never trailed during the World Junior Championships. The Denver Pioneers (1-8, 0-2) returned to the scene of yesterday’s blowout loss to face the South Dakota Coyotes (4-6, 2-0) in a 24-hour test of team resilience and character. Pioneers Rebound at Magness to Dominate Tigers 6-1, Earn 1,500th All-Time Victory
This season has been a battle for the #16 Denver Pioneers (4-7-1, 15 pts). Over their first 11 games, 10 at the Pod in Omaha, DU struggled to play consistent hockey and their 3-7-1 record showed that. If Denver had been battling some demons through their first 11 games, they did their best to exorcise them in a dominant, relentless 6-1 victory over the archrival Colorado College Tigers (3-5-2, 14 pts) in their first game at Magness Arena in 301 days. Brett Stapley and Reid Irwin each scored a pair of goals, Corbin Kaczperski made 17 saves on 18 shots, and the offense finally tapped into some of its huge potential just a night after a lackluster 4-3 loss to the Tigers in Colorado Springs. Coyotes Rout Hapless Denver, 93-54
The Denver Pioneers (1-7, 0-1) faced the South Dakota Coyotes (3-6, 1-0) in Vermillion, South Dakota at the Sanford (who else) Coyote Sports Center for a late matinee game Saturday. USD pounded the Pioneers mercilessly, 93-54. This was, surely, the most embarrassing hoops loss since the historic 101-40 pasting administered by Gonzaga in 2018.
