Last night, the #2 University of Denver Pioneers topped Colorado College for the 11th straight time to extend their third-longest streak in the 305-game history of the Gold Pan Rivalry. The 2-1 victory was an important one, as all wins over CC are, but the Pios played sluggish hockey for much of the game. Part of that was a function of the bye week last weekend.
DU head coach Jim Montgomery was pleased overall with the effort of his team, but he sees a lot of room for improvement this evening as the Pioneers drive to Colorado Springs to finish the season series between the in-state rivals.

Denver and Colorado College play again tonight. The puck drops at 6 PM this evening. Be sure to note the unusual start time if you’re planning to travel to the Springs.
