It’s no secret that the North Dakota hockey fans travel in large numbers to Denver for the Pioneer – Fighting Hawks hockey series – and this year is no different. LetsGoDU set out to learn North Dakotan’s travel plans and here is what we found:

Farm implement salesman Jim Perry drives local roads preparing his pet goat Betsy for the long trip to Denver.

According to his Facebook post, Jim & Betsy will set out from Velva, North Dakota for Denver on Tuesday for their dream vacation.

Local Cherry Creek State Park rangers are monitoring a former North Dakota encampment. The Fighting Hawks and their fans did not travel to Denver this past season.

Campsite debris remains from the past North Dakota visit which ended in a disappointing 4-1 defeat to Denver at Magness Arena. No sign of ND fans as of this writing.

Brenda and Scott Droplinger from Gackle, North Dakota celebrated their nuptials two months ago but delayed honeymoon plans until “Denver Week”.

Scott spent the last three weeks making his honeymoon ride “street legal”.

A recent DUI charge will not deter fan Derryl Parker from Loma, North Dakota from making the trip to Denver. He left his home five days ago.

Parker practices riding his daughter’s modified bike which he plans to ride 920 miles to Magness Arena. His bike was last spotted outside the Devils Lake, North Dakota VFW.

Fans are in high gear as they prepare for their travels to the ‘Big City’

Hawks season ticket holders Marv Holder (left) and Derek ‘Big Sandy’ Meeks (right) are getting in mid-season form at this Grand Forks patio bar.

However, some fans are reluctant to leave their homes. Jeb Schmidt, a resident of Bowbells, says, “I love the Hawks but I can’t leave the comforts of home.”

Schmidt says he will enjoy this Mile-High view from his home and watch the games on cable TV

Actually, this is fake news. Anyone from North Dakota knows that a trailer like that would come down in the first big windstorm of the season. 🙂
