Denver Conquers Pac-12 Foes

It was a great week for Denver fall sports while going two-for-three against the Pac 12.

The action started with DU women’s soccer on Thursday night at CIBER Field with a decisive victory over the University of Utah, 3-0. Ella Frost gave DU a first-half lead and a pair of goals in the second half by Sydney Sharp and Vanessa Murray sealed the win. Of course, no DU soccer story would be complete without mentioning Natalie Beckman. Beckman had had two assists, all in the second half.

Denver dominates Utah, 3-0

Denver men’s soccer traveled to Corvallis, Oregon to take on Oregon State. The Pioneers offensive woes carried over from last season and Denver fell, 3-0. The Beavers scored two goals in the first forty-five minutes and cruised to the win. In a reversal of the traditional frontier theme, the Beavers outshot the Pioneers 14-9.

Our Puck Swami wrote about Denver volleyball’s huge win against the Trojans of USC as DU completed a three-game road sweep at the Trojan Invitational. The Pioneers earned wins against California State Northridge, USC, and Campbell University (N.C.) during the weekend tournament.

Look forward to another busy week which includes:

  • DU men’s soccer has a short turnaround with a road game tonight against the University of Portland.
  • Denver women’s soccer plays another Power Five opponent in the Big 12’s Kansas State Thursday night at 7:00 pm at CIBER Field.
  • Denver Volleyball begins the three-match Denver Invitational. The action starts Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. with Denver taking on Northern Colorado at Hamilton Gym.  The tournament schedule also includes Denver matches against Northeastern (7 p.m,) and Mercer (6 p.m.) on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
  • Denver Triathlon travels to the Pleasant Prairie Regional Qualifier Saturday to open up their fall season.
