Denver Boone was injured in a photo shoot attempting to replicate DU goalie Matt Davis’ “The Save” for a new collectible, commemorative hockey sweater to be released this week. The Matt Davis NIL (name, image, and likeness) sweater was a project commissioned by LetsGoDU and Friends of DU Hockey.
“I did it for the team,” said Boone, recovering at his home. The diving lunge by Boone resulted in a trip to the hospital. “Matty Davis can do things that are inhuman – even for me.” Boone had a sprained ACL and a torn rotator cuff while posing for ‘The Save’ from last season’s Boston College-DU national championship game. After a three-day stay at Swedish Hospital, Boone is now resting comfortably and dreaming of an 11th National Championship season.
“I am looking to mend as quickly as possible, We have a national championship to defend. A little discomfort is a small price to pay to be the best. Plus, all the proceeds from jersey sales go to support DU Hockey and Matty Davis. It was all worth it!”
The throwback sweater features ‘The Save’ and Matt Davis’ signature with his jersey number plus two shoulder patches celebrating DU’s 75th hockey anniversary and ten NCAA National Championships.
After several Vicodin, Boone drifted into deep thought. “The real Matty Ice lives right here in Denver…” His voice trailed off as he fell into a deep sleep, dreaming of number eleven…

ELEVEN WILL BE HEAVEN
Tape an aspirin to it!
Dunker Sad that Boone was injured recreating “The Save”. It could have been worse if Boone had not taken his spill on the most beautiful and plush lawn in Denver.
Rumor has it that it was the reel mower and Revive soil conditioner that saved him from a life-threatening event.
