DU to play Walkin’ Bob and Omaha in Summit League Finals

He’s been given his walking papers before. So, LetsGoDU decided to provide the Omaha Mavericks head coach Bob Warming, a printer-friendly CIBER Field map in the event he is asked by officials to leave Saturday’s Summit League final. Warming, ironically, lost his cool earlier this season in Omaha when the Mavericks gave up a 2-goal advantage to DU, allowing 4 goals to Andre Shinyashiki before Warming earned his second yellow card – sending Walkin’ Bob to the showers.

Both DU and the Mavericks advanced to the Summit League Finals with 1-0 victories in Thursday’s Summit League soccer semifinals.

In order to recognize the growing soccer history between DU and Omaha, we went to our LetsGoDU production studios to memorialize Bob Warming’s long walk earlier this season.

Considering Warming’s advanced age and Denver’s elevation, the illustrated map of DU’s CIBER Field and the Ritchie Center could prove useful for his first-time visit as Mavs boss.

The final Summit League Championship match for the NCAA automatic qualifier is scheduled for Saturday, November 10th at 3:00 pm MT at CIBER Field.

  1. The DU Soccer games against Omaha tend to be wild ones, as the Mavs are very good at getting DU to play out of its system and playing more free-form. The Pios should not fall for it this time. DU needs to control the ball and bury its chances. A loss to the Mavs tomorrow would likely send the Pios on the road for the NCAA tournament…Would be nice to see a good turnout of Pio fans for the the title game. You know the Mavs will bring some vocal fans, which you have to admire…
