The top-ranked University of Denver Pioneers saw their 14-game winning streak against their in-state archrival, the Colorado College Tigers, come to an end. Of course, for NCAA purposes, the game went down as a tie but Christiano Versich’s power play goal in three-on-three overtime gave the Tigers the extra point for NCHC standings purposes. By all accounts, it was a disappointing performance by the Pioneers and head coach Jim Montgomery was rightfully concerned.
