DU Hockey Mailbag: Happy New Year and bring on the 2nd half

After a hiatus for the first half of the season, I’ve decided to revive the DU Hockey Mailbag for the second half. I started this last year as a way for fans to be able to find out things that we may not have touched on in recent articles or even on Twitter, as unlikely as that is. I didn’t do the mailbag for the first half for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is I started my job and it’s taken a bit of time to adjust and figure out my schedule. The important thing is that it’s back now. Continue reading DU Hockey Mailbag: Happy New Year and bring on the 2nd half

DU Hockey Mailbag: Live From Minneapolis, It’s the Frozen Faceoff!

I landed in Minneapolis at 4:30 PM local time yesterday and I immediately swung into high gear. The NCHC Awards Ceremony started at 5:15 (I arrived late…rush hour traffic, man). I had to make sure I saw some Pioneers get honored. Continue reading DU Hockey Mailbag: Live From Minneapolis, It’s the Frozen Faceoff!

I know this week’s mailbag is up late…but it’s finals week and finding time to write this week has been surprisingly difficult. So your patience here is greatly appreciated. I decided to take a break from studying to get this written, so without further excuses ado, let’s get this thing going. Continue reading DU Hockey Mailbag: It’s NCHC Tournament Time!

DU Hockey Mailbag: Senior Week

We’ve reached the final week of the regular season. DU is tied with St. Cloud State for 2nd place and the 2nd seed in the NCHC. The Pios are 12-1-3 since the beginning of 2016 and are charging toward the postseason faster than any other team in college hockey. Continue reading DU Hockey Mailbag: Senior Week

Whew…what an incredible couple of weeks. DU hockey swept North Dakota two weeks ago and then swept the Kittens including a 4-1 victory at Coors Field at the Battle on Blake. This was probably the best two week stretch in the Jim Montgomery era and probably the best stretch in the last 5 years. Continue reading DU Hockey Mailbag: Stretch Run

DU Hockey Mailbag: It’s North Dakota Week!

After an odd bye week that gave me some serious college hockey withdrawals, DU hockey is back this weekend to take on their bitter rival, North Dakota. It’s going to be a great weekend of college hockey that you’re not going to want to miss. I will be repeating this info likely later today and tomorrow, but if you can’t make it to Magness Arena this weekend, both games will be televised. Friday’s game (8:06 PM puck drop) will be on CBS Sports and Saturday’s (7:06 PM) will be on Root Sports. Continue reading DU Hockey Mailbag: It’s North Dakota Week!

DU Hockey Mailbag: Undefeated in the New Year, You Say?

Welcome to the 2nd edition of the DU hockey mailbag! This is the forum in which I take your questions about DU hockey that may not have been answered earlier in the week and, well, answer them.

Before I get going, let me just give you a quick update on what happened during the week. Continue reading DU Hockey Mailbag: Undefeated in the New Year, You Say?

DU Hockey Mailbag: What’s Wrong With the Top Line?

Just a few days ago, I came up with the idea to put together a weekly mailbag about DU hockey. Eventually, this idea may extend to a DU Athletics mailbag, but I’m going to start smaller with just hockey and let it go from there.

The whole point behind this idea is that it’s difficult to cover everything that readers want to know and answering every single question isn’t easy with only reader comments. As a reminder, if you have any questions about DU hockey, email me at letsgodu@gmail.com. The cutoff for every week’s mailbag is going to be at 6 PM MT each Wednesday.
