We told you about Denver hockey team’s (4-2-0) trip out east. After two good periods, they have given up 10 goals and scored only 2 goals over the last four periods as they dropped two games to Providence College and Boston College. DU has a bye week to regroup and prepare for a road trip to North Dakota in two weeks.
Denver’s other fall teams are all fighting for regular-season titles.
Women’s soccer (12-5, 7-0) continued their offensive explosiveness and scored 10 goals in the Dakotas to defeat North Dakota (6-0) and North Dakota State (4-0) in convincing fashion. Six different players scored for the Pioneers against UND and a Kaitlyn Glover hat trick finished off NDSU. That sets up an important two-game series against South Dakota (6 pm) and South Dakota State (1 pm) this upcoming Friday and Sunday at Pioneer Field to conclude the regular season.

Denver men’s soccer (9-2-2, 4-0-0) took down ORU 1-0 on an early goal by Kengo Ohira Saturday night. The game was not pretty as DU bunkered in the last 20 minutes for the road win. Denver moved into the top spot and faces Omaha at 7 pm Saturday night at Pioneer Field in a huge rivalry showdown. A win on Senior Day would clinch the regular-season title for DU with one game remaining against UMKC on the road.
Denver volleyball (18-2, 9-1) went on the road and breezed by St Thomas (25-18, 25-14, 25-13) and Western Illinois (23-25, 25-19. 25-19, 25-16) . Denver faces first-place Omaha (13-8, 10-1) at 1:00 pm Saturday for a critical regular-season match for the top spot in the Summit League. Following the match, DU flies to Tulsa to face ORU on Monday. Eight matches remain in the regular season.

DU Triathlon is traveling to St. George Utah Saturday, October 30th for the St. George National Qualifier for their final meet before the NCAA Championships two weeks later. DU is ranked second in collegiate Triathlon in their first full season.

Generally, our readers are interested in the other sports we write about but that is not to say that these other sports do not take a huge amount of effort and skill to excel.
