The Summit League basketball coaches and media held their basketball media day on Tuesday this week. During the annual event, the conference unveiled their preseason coaches and media poll. Despite falling in the Summit League championship game a year ago and landing an impressive recruiting class, the Pioneers were picked to finish ninth out of nine men’s Summit League men’s basketball teams. Denver Falls to Pitt 2-0, Relinquishes Nation’s Top Spot

The game between Denver (6-1-4) and Pittsburgh (10-1, 4-0) settled which team was the top men’s DI soccer team in the nation to this point in the season. The Panthers delivered the first loss of the season to Denver, 2-0, in Pittsburgh. A goal delivered late in the first half by the Panthers carried Pittsburgh to the win. #1 DU Men’s Soccer Faces Most Meaningful Game Tonight at Pitt

#1 DU men’s soccer (7-0-4) faces their biggest remaining regular season challenge tonight. DU faces fellow #1 (United Soccer Coaches Poll) Pitt at Ambrose Urbanic Field at 5 pm MT. Following a successful opening 6-game non-conference road trip against power programs, Denver has found themselves ranked #1 in the Top Drawer Coaches Poll for the past month. Pitt, meanwhile is currently #2 in the Top Drawer poll. Denver’s remaining relatively soft Summit League schedule will not help their national standing. #1 Denver Finishes Off Resounding Season-Opening Sweep of Alaska-Anchorage

For a team like Denver, there are always games on the schedule that are, in effect, scheduled victories. It’s hockey, after all, so no game is ever truly a sure thing until the teams hit the ice but sometimes, the talent gap is so wide that it would be a monumental, Vanderbilt over Alabama-type upset. This weekend, the #1 Denver Pioneers (2-0-0, 0-0-0 NCHC) had two such games on their schedule when they traveled to southern Alaska to take on the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves (0-2-0) to kick off their title defense and quest for the program’s 11th national title. As expected, the Pioneers delivered and will return to Denver with two resounding victories under their belts. #1 Pioneers Rout Alaska-Anchorage in Season-Opening Road Victory

The #1 Denver Pioneers (1-0-0, 0-0-0 NCHC) have turned the page from their record-setting 10th national championship season and if there was any lingering doubt about it, the 2024-25 team put them to rest immediately by drubbing the Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves (0-1-0) 6-2 to open the season. It’s only one victory on the march towards title number eleven. Still, it was resounding as the Pioneers outshot the Seawolves 38-12, out-attempted them 68-19, and tallied a whopping four power-play goals in nine tries. #1 DU’s Offensive Outburst Sinks St. Thomas, 5-0

DU men’s soccer (7-0-4, 2-0) played the St. Thomas Tommies at Pioneer Field Saturday afternoon. (3-5-2, 0-3). It felt like a matter of time until the Pioneers unleashed their formidable offense. following a mere three goals in their last three games. TheĀ  Saturday sun-drenched alumni-day match was the perfect setting for DU players and fans. Two goals in the first half and another goal early in the opening minutes of the second half extinguished any hope for the visitors as they fell 5-0. Herman’s Hideaway on Broadway Becomes a Distant Memory

Herman’s Hideaway on South Broadway, a mere five-minute drive from the University of Denver campus, is transforming into a Latin dance club, Coco Bongos. Generations of DU students and graduates drank beer and listened to emerging bands like Dave Matthews, Phish, Blues Traveler, Widespread Panic, Jane’s Addiction, and thousands of other groups at the local dive. The cozy bar was surrounded by antique stores and boutique shops and located on a commercial strip (now referred to as The Green Mile because of the numerous pot shops that have cropped up along SoBo -South Broadway). DU Opens Conference Play with 3-2 Win Over ORU

#1 Denver men’s soccer (6-0-4, 1-0) opened Summit League play Wednesday night against Oral Roberts (4-3-3, 1-1) with a 3-2 victory at Pioneer Field.

Despite a 10-day break between their victory over Seattle and this game, the Pioneers didn’t miss a beat and dominated play early. DU’s Ronan Wynne scored in the 27th minute and DU took the 1-0 lead to halftime. The Golden Eagles had no shots for the half while DU had 7 shots with only Wynne’s on target. BREAKING: Denver Awarded Three NCAA Postseason Events in 2027 & 2028

If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. Denver’s head coach David Carle has argued for campus sites for the NCAA Regional Hockey Tournament. Instead, the NCAA continues to support neutral Regional playoff sites so DU bid and won hosting duties for the 2027 hockey regionals in Loveland’s Blue Arena (no longer named the Budweiser Events Center). The host Pioneers were already awarded the 2026 NCAA Ice Hockey Regional in Loveland. The NCAA also awarded Denver Gymnastics with hosting duties for one of the four 2027 regionals.
