At the first session in Round 2 of the Women’s Gymnastics Regional competition, the teams and individuals definitely left some room for DU individual competitors this evening!
Denver will host the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Regional competition this week, March 30 through April 2.
There are four regional meets all this weekend, each with 9 teams competing. The top 16 teams, based on National Qualifying Score (NQS) are seeded into the regional meets, and the remaining teams are placed in the closest (or close-ish) location. Continue reading Denver Regional Gymnastics Preview→
Denver gymnastics took 2nd to #1 ranked Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championships at West Virginia on Saturday, March 18. DU Junior, Jessica Hutchinson took second in the All Around and earned Big 12 gymnast of the year. Final team scores were:
Denver gymnastics put up a 197.275 against the Iowa State Cyclones on Friday, February 24. The Cyclones are at #39, so again, the Pioneers were supposed to win this one by a lot. It’s just our athletes versus the judges. The team remained ranked #10 in the nation and improved their National Qualifying Score (NQS) from 197.195 to 197.305. DU gymnastics was on fire Friday evening at the Air Force Academy! The team score was a season high of 197.65. However, if this meet had been in the SEC, I guarantee you that score would be a 197.9. These Colorado judges are hurting DU’s national ranking. DU is forced to compete better while traveling out of state than when they are at home (or in the Springs). On February 12, Magness Arena was treated to the return of Lynnzee Brown in the All Around for Pioneers gymnastics. It was her first time competing on the floor exercise since January 2022, when she suffered a seemingly career ending injury. Junior Jessica Hutchinson achieved perfection on Sunday, scoring a 10.0 on the floor exercise. This is Hutchinson’s first 10 of her NCAA career and the first of the season for DU. It was a great way to cap off an exciting meet for Denver gymnastics in Magness. Continue reading Perfection in Magness→
