Road To Nationals Ends In Berkeley for DU Gymnastics

Denver fell to Cal and Stanford in gymnastics’ sweet 16 and doesn’t advance to Nationals. Although DU didn’t have to count a miss, you can’t fall four times and hope to make up enough tenths to advance. They join Kentucky as the biggest losers of the regionals weekend; these two teams were the only two teams ranked in the top 8 that didn’t advance to the National Championship.

Berkeley Regional Results:

  1. California 198.275
  2. Stanford 197.575
  3. Denver 197.45
  4. ASU 196.75

Denver gymnastics put up a 197.275 against the Iowa State Cyclones on Friday, February 24. The Cyclones are at #39, so again, the Pioneers were supposed to win this one by a lot. It’s just our athletes versus the judges. The team remained ranked #10 in the nation and improved their National Qualifying Score (NQS) from 197.195 to 197.305. Gymnastics Posts Season High Team Score, But Deserved Higher

DU gymnastics was on fire Friday evening at the Air Force Academy! The team score was a season high of 197.65. However, if this meet had been in the SEC, I guarantee you that score would be a 197.9. These Colorado judges are hurting DU’s national ranking. DU is forced to compete better while traveling out of state than when they are at home (or in the Springs).
