Five minutes later, Keegan Kelly took a feed from Sam Bassett to build a 2-0 lead. A little more then a minute after that, Sam Basset fed Trevor Wright to stack another goal on the visiting Runnin’ Bulldogs, 3-0. Denver Men’s Soccer Earns Surprising #3 Overall Seed in NCAA Tournament
In an unexpected decision from the NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament selection committee, Denver Men’s Soccer (12-3-4) was given the #3 seed overall seed. This assignment follows a disappointing home loss to UMKC on home turf Saturday in the Summit League Championship. With the top-four seeding, the Pioneers will enjoy home-field advantage all the way until the College Cup semifinals in Cary, North Carolina, should the advance that far. UMKC Stuns Denver in Summit League Final
Everything was on the line for [2/4] DU men’s soccer (12-3-4, 7-2) Saturday afternoon in their 2-1 loss against UMKC in the Summit League Tournament Final. The Pioneer Field loss gave the Roos the Conference autobid. Denver will no doubt make the NCAA Tournament and should have a first-round bye. However, if they advance, they are likely to go on the road before the College Cup in Carey, North Carolina – if they make it that far. The win gave the Roos the season series against Denver. Men’s Soccer Wins Regular Season Title, Women’s Soccer Closing Strong, Basketball Begins
Head Coach Jamie Franks led Denver Men’s Soccer (11-2-1, 6-1-0) to yet another Summit League Conference regular season title, their 10th in the Summit League. The Pioneers clinched the top spot in Tulsa Saturday when they defeated Oral Roberts 1-0. Redshirt junior Ian Smith scored the game-winning goal 17 minutes into the second half with a helper from Ronan Wynne. Denver still has one regular season match remaining on Saturday against Omaha. The Summit League Tournament will be held at Pioneer Field a week later with the Pioneers as the top seed. Denver Cruises Past Omaha, 2-0
Denver Men’s Soccer opened up Homecoming week with a 2-0 win over Omaha at Pioneer Field. Denver was fueled by two first-half goals and coasted in the second half, outshooting the visitors 13(5 on net)-9(3). Men’s Soccer Drops Two Games, Women’s Teams Sweep at Home
It was not a complete surprise when DU men’s soccer (7-2-4, 2-1) traveled to #3 Pitt and fell 1-0 to the Panthers, spoiling DU’s undefeated record. Saturday’s loss at UMKC, however, was inexplicable. Denver Falls to Pitt 2-0, Relinquishes Nation’s Top Spot
The game between Denver (6-1-4) and Pittsburgh (10-1, 4-0) settled which team was the top men’s DI soccer team in the nation to this point in the season. The Panthers delivered the first loss of the season to Denver, 2-0, in Pittsburgh. A goal delivered late in the first half by the Panthers carried Pittsburgh to the win.
