Tim Healy: Ski Team Poised for Title Run, Friday Night Fan Event in Steamboat

As the DU ski team diligently prepares for this weekend’s National Championships in Steamboat Springs, most eyes at the University of Denver have been focused on a surging hockey team and a dominant men’s lacrosse team. Even the men’s basketball team stole some of the spotlight this week with a close loss in the Summit League Semifinals.

Hoops 2016-2017: Does Denver Have What it Takes?

After this year’s exciting, if a bit heartbreaking, semifinal game against South Dakota State and the dismantling of Omaha and North Dakota State in the prior two games, DU  is still the same team that lost to cellar-dwelling Western Illinois in Denver on February 11th. While Denver did show dramatic improvement near the end of this season, that progress must continue if DU is going to travel to Sioux Falls next year and have more success on a “not exactly neutral” court.

It’s OK to be Optimistic About Denver Men’s Basketball

If you missed the University of Denver Men’s Basketball team’s Summit League Semi-Final against South Dakota State last night, DU lost on a missed free throw by Joe Rosga with barely a second left in the game. It was a heartbreaking finish to a game that the Pioneers probably should have won.

Denver and Notre Dame to Renew High Intensity Rivalry Sunday

Summit League Semi-Final Preview – DU vs. SDSU

This season, the University of Denver Pioneers (16-14) are 0-2 against the South Dakota State University Jackrabbits (24-7). But tonight’s semifinal game is not the mismatch it appears to be on paper.

DU started their conference season in Brookings, South Dakota on January 1st, dropping a 68-59 decision. South Dakota State killed DU on the offensive boards 12-2 and led for 32 minutes 26 seconds, using big scoring runs to pull away. Denver was led by Marcus Byrd (16 points), Joe Rosga (12 points), and Nate Engesser (11 points). SDSU had balanced scoring with 5 players in double digits. Denver Finishes Senior Weekend Sweep With 2-1 Victory Over Omaha

On a night that saw the No. 7 University of Denver Pioneers’ seniors honored before the opening puck drop, Denver topped the No. 15 University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks 2-1. Thanks to St. Cloud State’s victory over Colorado College earlier in the evening, game two of Senior Weekend proved to be a preview for the first round of the NCHC Tournament next weekend between Denver and Omaha. Denver Overcomes Slow Start to Win OT Thriller at UNC

Just over a minute into overtime, star attackman Connor Cannizzaro took a feed from Jack Bobzien and rifled a shot bottom left past North Carolina goalie, Brian Balkam to give the No. 2 University of Denver Pioneers a 13-12 victory over the No. 10 North Carolina Tar Heels. Denver Shuts Out Omaha, Earns 20th Victory for 15th Straight Year

For the 15th straight season, the No. 7 University of Denver Pioneers won their 20th game. Tonight, the Pioneers shut out the No. 15 University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks 3-0 to complete the feat and extend their winning streak to 8.
