Pioneers No. 2 overall seed, will play winner of play-in game

In the end, the University of Denver Pioneers’ loss to the Marquette University Golden Eagles in the BIG EAST Championship didn’t affect their seeding in the NCAA Lacrosse Tournament. Even if the Pioneers had won the BIG EAST Tournament, it is unlikely that they would have been the No. 1 overall seed ahead of the Maryland Terrapins. Marquette tops Denver in thriller, claims BIG EAST crown

Powered by a seven-goal second half, the No. 19 Marquette University Golden Eagles topped the top-ranked University of Denver Pioneers for the first time in the short, 4-year history of Marquette lacrosse. The Eagles held Denver’s star attackman Connor Cannizzaro without a goal for the first time in almost 40 games and made life difficult for DU’s star FOGO by winning 12-of-23 at the X. Denver routs Providence in Big East Championship tune-up

For the second time in three weeks, the top-ranked University of Denver Pioneers lit up the scoreboard with 17 goals against the unranked Providence College Friars. Three weeks ago, in Providence, RI, the Pioneers outscored the Friars 11-2 in the second half to pull away and seal the victory. Six goal third leads Pioneers to Big East Title on Senior Day

Thanks to an important six-goal third quarter during which the No. 1 University of Denver Pioneers (12-1, 5-0 Big East) held the No. 19 Marquette University Golden Eagles (9-4, 4-1 Big East) scoreless, DU won their third straight Big East regular season championship. Denver holds off upstart Villanova in snowy thriller

On a cold day in Villanova, Pennsylvania, the No. 4 University of Denver Pioneers topped the No. 18 Villanova University Wildcats 12-11 with heavy snow falling throughout the game. Denver Can’t Overcome Sloppy Play, Loses to Penn State

For the first time since losing to Ohio State last year, a span of 20 games, the No. 1 University of Denver Pioneers lost a lacrosse game. This time, the Pioneers were dispatched at the hands of the unranked, upstart Penn State Nittany Lions by a score of 15-10 at the Patriot Cup in Dallas, Texas.
