Following North Dakota’s 5-2 win over Michigan to advance to the Frozen Four in Tampa, Florida, the Grand Forks Herald interviewed local Fighting Hawks hockey fans who intended to travel to Tampa for the Frozen Four. Respondents were asked, “Which had they seen last – a tree, the sun, or ‘can’t remember'”.
In the article, Hockey Takes Back Seat to Nature, trees won with 38% followed by ‘can’t remember’ at 33% and the sun with 29%.
Norbert Schultz from Devils Lake said, “When I drive to Lakota for Sunday supper there is a tree near the Olive Garden. Nel ‘Daisy’ Krump from Langdon, North Dakota remembered seeing the sun several days after Thanksgiving last year – “a real beauty of a day” said Daisy. The Denton family from Grand Forks were interviewed at Red Ray Bowling Lanes. After a spirited debate, the family of four agreed that they ‘can’t remember’.
The article concluded, “Surely, many Fighting Hawks fans will only be using one leg of their round trip tickets once they arrive in Tampa.”
