The #43 University of Denver women’s tennis team crushed Summit League rival North Dakota Saturday afternoon 7-0.

The Pioneers (12-3, 3-0) cruised in doubles play to take the first point and there wasn’t much fight in the Fighting Hawks after that.

Co-captain and #92 in the nation Bianca Mok won in singles 6-1, 7-5 to go to 10-3 on the season. Fellow captain Arisha Ladhani improved to 2-1 from the #3 spot.

Sophomore Anna Riedmiller, playing in the #2 singles spot behind Mok,  was pushed to a third set but exerted control there for a 6-3 victory there.

It’s the fourth-straight win for DU, as they get into the heart of conference play.

Associate head coach David Loewenthal praised his squad for dealing with the travel day Friday, having to practice late that evening, and then getting up early this morning to hit around before the North Dakota match.

“I think the girls are battle-tested and today was another good example of we try and prepare as best we can for any environment,” he said. 

DU now sets its sights on three huge Power Five matchups, starting with Utah (10-5, 1-3 in the Pac-12) this Tuesday at 4:30pm at Denver Tennis Park. Weather permitting that will be their first-ever outdoor match at DTP. They then head south to Arizona where they have a date with the University of Arizona in Tucson next Saturday, before dueling with Arizona State on Sunday.

Technically though the next opponent for the Pioneer ladies is time: they need to hurry up and get on the road to make it for the 7p MT puck drop an hour away in Fargo to watch DU hockey take on American International with a trip to the Frozen Four on the line.

Loewenthal asked the team today if they were interested in making the trip down I-29 to watch their fellow Pios on the ice.

“The girls are excited also to go support hockey in their quest for a national championship,” he said. “I think they want to embrace a little bit of the magic from the hockey team.”
