If the #6 Denver Pioneers wanted to pull off the exact opposite of their performance on Friday night, they did just that on Saturday night in their 5-2 road victory over the St. Cloud State Huskies. With the performance, Denver earned its 20th win of the season to extend the Tenzer Streak to 19 straight seasons with at least 20 wins, a streak that streak dates back to the 2001-2002 Pioneers.
A night ago, the Huskies took it to the Pioneers with a dominating 5-1 victory in which the boys in crimson looked hapless at times. Just a night later, it was the Huskies who looked hapless as the Pioneers completely outplayed and outskated them to earn an important stretch run road split.
With the win, DU is once again four points ahead of SCSU with two games to play. Should North Dakota beat Western Michigan this evening, Denver will also be two points ahead of the Broncos in third place.
We will have a full in-depth weekend recap tomorrow that summarizes the night’s results and what they all mean going into the final weekend of the regular season. What were your thoughts on the weekend? What did you see tonight from the Pioneers as they ended the Huskies’ unbeaten streak?
