2021 DU Homecoming Kicks Off Next Week

Denver homecoming is fast approaching, slated for October 4th – 9th. The week includes events to celebrate Chancellor Jeremy Haefner’s installation as Denver’s 19th chancellor which was delayed due to COVID-19 and ends with DU Hockey’s season-opening series against Arizona State.

Homecoming participants can register to attend the ribbon-cutting for the Burwell Center for Career Achievement on Monday at 4:30 pm. The Burwell Center will also accommodate Alumni affairs. On Wednesday, October 6th, visitors can register to tour the new Community Commons (Student Union) 3:00 – 5:00 pm.

Chancellor Haefner has been a consistent supporter of Denver Athletics and can be seen in attendance at a number of games and matches. In addition, he is passionate about physical fitness and sponsors frequent campus runs. Haefner is almost certain to participate in the Crimson Classic 5k from 4:00 -5 pm on Thursday, October 7th. Haefner’s formal installation ceremony will be held on Friday, October 8th at the Newman Center from 10:00-11:30 am.

There are a variety of other speakers and events during the week that you can sign up for. Men’s soccer has a match against the St. Thomas Tommies, the newest Summit League member, at 4:00 pm on Saturday the 9th. Both women’s soccer and volleyball are on the road during homecoming weekend.
