Freshman Liv Moritz continues to shine for the Pioneers at Oregon.

Head coach Jamie Franks earned his 100the career win for DU men’s soccer last week. DU (4-0-2) maintained their loss-free record with two shutouts at Pioneer Field to cap their si-game homestand. On Friday, Denver used a first-half goal from Oje Ofunrein to take a lead they never gave up. Ofunrein added two more goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half to swamp the Tritons. Ben Smith capped the scoring for Denver in the 4-0 win. On Sunday, the march was moved to an earlier start, 1:35. but Oje Ofunrein was ready to go and put the Pioneers up 1-0 with a goal 24 minutes into the first half. Aiden O’Toole finished off the Bears at 70:26 to complete the 2-0 win. Isaac Nehme got both shutouts for DU in goal.

We are also thrilled that DU rewarded Ryan Massa, a volunteer coach, with a full-time assistant coaching gig with DU hockey.

Women’s lacrosse made some off-season news as well with the Sam Thacker returning for her fifth season. She will join other returning players Julia Gilbert and Trinity McPherson. In addition to a solid recruiting class and high profile transfers, DU will be stacked heading into the spring season.

And, of course, the new artificial turf and branding at Peter Barton Stadium.
