Denver Completes Another Successful Week

DU men’s and women’s soccer teams earned 1-0 victories this week against Western Illinois and UMKC, respectively. DU women’s soccer (9-1-5) secured their win at the friendly confines of Pioneer Field while DU men (7-2-4, 3-0-1) defeated WIU in Macomb, Illinois.

Both teams scored their game-winners 35 minutes into the first half. Michaela McGowan scored the game-winner at the 35-minute mark of the first half at Denver for the women. Bryce Willoughby did the same for DU men against the Leathernecks. Both teams sit in first place in the Summit League.

Denver Volleyball (6-9, 6-2) rebounded from a 3-0 loss at Omaha Thursday with a 3-0 sweep of South Dakota State at Hamilton Gym. Cassie Davis had 15 kills, Briley Decker dished out 33 assists and Gianna Bartalo paced DU with 19 digs. Denver sits in third place, trailing Omaha and Kansas City, at the midpoint of conference play.

Denver Triathlon competed in the Eastern Region National Qualifier, the final tuneup for the NCAA Championships in Temp Arizona. Denver placed three competitors in the top ten with DU’s Maira Carreau on the top step.

Denver hockey is preparing for a big road trip this upcoming weekend to #13 Providence and #4 Boston College. These will be good measuring-stick games for a young team.
