2023 was a good year for DU Athletics and we enjoyed covering every minute of it – and we hope you did, too. Here are the links to some of our most-read articles of the year. If you missed them, we have included the links.
- Two College Soccer Rules that Should be Adopted by the Pros. Soccer traditionalists hated this article but it was posted and debated across the web.
- Has Denver Lost its Mojo? This article cited the City of Denver and Colorado’s slowdown after nearly a decade of explosive growth.
- Shrinking College Enrollment Threatens the Status Quo. Demographics and educational preferences are changing and schools like DU are highly dependent on tuition to cover operations, and must reinvent themselves.
- O.K., so sometimes we miss the mark. Two popular articles prove the point. Denver Volleyball headed for a Hard Landing and Miami Sees Changes in NCHC Governance & Will Resist ASU Membership. Denver volleyball tied for the regular season Summit League title and Miami eventually voted to admit ASU hockey into the NCHC. Glad we were wrong on both counts!
- We did not have major mascot crises in 2023 but people still flocked to an old article from 2018 and continue to research and ponder Recapping DU’s Top 10 Incredibly Terrible Mascot Screw-Ups Since 1998. We must remain vigilant and not forget, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it“. As always, we are watching.
- LetsGoDU readers continue to react to our satirical pieces. Our most popular was a topical piece Colorado College Embroiled in Chinese Weather Baloon Controversy. While sports are serious business these days, athletics should be entertaining as well. We hope you had a good laugh.
Hopefully, we will continue to bring you thought-provoking, entertaining, and informative articles in 2024. Again, thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts with us.
Happy New Year and Go Pioneers!
