  1. Today is the first day I’ve received a personal email from DU about basketball. It’s about time. Opportunity of a lifetime tonight.

    GO PIOS

    1. Glad to see the DU admin finally starting to get behind this men’s hoops program. This on-campus watch party is a good start and I really like that people under 21 can be there, which sports bars (the usual places that DU farms out TV watch parties) are restricted from accommodating.

By the way, we’re still the only school at the Summit League Tourney without a pep band or cheerleaders in Sioux Falls. DU used to send these groups annually to Sioux Falls. No more. Too much $. And don’t think the rest of the league and even our own players and coaches don’t notice this absence, which reeks of a lack of institutional support.

Tonight is the biggest DU basketball game since 2013, when DU hosted (and won) an NIT game. And DU hasn’t been in a men’s tourney championship game since 2005 – before some of DU’s current players were even born. If DU can somehow win tonight in Sioux Falls, the entire NCAA narrative around DU basketball changes overnight…

Wulbrun has worked miracles cobbling together this team, and I hope that they call pull it off. Go Pios!
