Run, Swim, and Meet DU’s Elite Triathlon Team

While DU Women’s Triathlon is world-class, you don’t have to be.

DU is one of those rare places where you can meet Division I coaches and athletes one-on-one and get to personally know them. The DU Women’s Triathlon team has scheduled a casual event to engage the local community. It’s called an Aquathon with a swim and run component for fun the morning of Saturday, September 22nd from 9-11 at DU.

Participants will swim a short distance and run a 1-kilometer leg –  no bicycle is needed. If you have kids, a partner, or friends that swim and/or run, you can do a two-person relay and get to experience a small part of a triathlete’s life. The Aquathon is about fun, getting a morning stretch, and exercising while meeting the team. If you compete in triathlon, swimming, or running, you can also seek tips from the team. While there, be sure to meet DU sophomore National Champion Maira Carreau and the other athletes as well. Head Coach Barbara Perkins will be available for your questions about the team, training tips, and the prospects for this year’s team.

The fundraiser only costs participants $25 with the proceeds going to the program. The event includes a 200-meter indoor swim (two laps) at El Pomar Natatorium inside Ritchie Center and a short 1-kilometer outdoor run around the DU sports fields. A two-person relay team can compete as well – additional details are here and you can register here.

If you want to come and just watch, the event is free or you can donate to the team using the registration form.
