DU Men’s Soccer (11-7-2, 4-1-1) received word Monday morning that they will face the UC Irvine Anteaters at Pioneer Field on Thursday at 3:00 pm MT. The assignment follows a 4-2 victory Saturday over UMKC in the Summit League Tournament championship. Tickets for the matchup are now on sale, but if you can’t attend, the match will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Anteaters finished 11-3-6 and won the Big West tournament against UC Santa Barbara with a 2-1 victory to advance to the NCAA Tournament. Denver scores 1.7 goals per game (58th nationally) while UCI scores 1.45 (92nd). UCI finished 2-3-3 on the road this year, and DU finished 9-1-1 at Pioneer Field.
Denver women’s volleyball (17-10, 9-7) completed its regular season schedule with a road sweep over Oral Roberts and UMKC, both by 3-0 final scores. A pair of Pioneers, Genevieve Lewis and Ava Reynolds, paced DU with double-digit kills against ORU. Reynolds collected another dozen kills against UMKC, and Madison Winkler made 13 digs in the sweep.
The Pioneers finished in 5th place in the Summit, and the 2025 Summit League Volleyball Championship will take place November 23-25 at First Bank & Trust Arena in Brookings, S.D. The top six teams of the regular season advance to the championship. While the Pioneers know where they will finish in the standings, the other eight teams still have one more conference matchup to play, and other spots are still up for grabs, so the tournament bracket has not yet been finalized.
UCI is a good assignment for DU. Key is no bunkering. Go forward, score goals.
Glad DU got a home game in NCAA. Outstanding soccer program!
