DU Lax Powers Past Ohio State in Second Half, 15-6

Ten months ago, Ohio State came to Denver and surprised the Pioneers with a 5-0 first quarter scoring run at the NCAA quarterfinals. DU responded with a 5-0 run of their own and went on to win the game and advance, 15-13, to the Final Four and become eventual national champions.

Ohio State rolled into Denver Saturday afternoon with a chance to exact revenge. They hung close the first half, again, as both teams played stifling defense but DU’s offense got untracked in the second half. DU coasted to the 15-6 victory at Peter Barton Stadium. Mike Eaves Out at Wisconsin, Door Open for Gwozdecky?

Yesterday, University of Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez announced that long-time hockey head coach, Mike Eaves, would be relieved of his duties. Though he led Wisconsin to the the 2006 National Championship and consistently kept the Badgers near the top of the college hockey world, his last few years behind the UW bench were less than stellar. Missed Chances Doom Pioneers in Frozen Faceoff Loss

After all the talk was about how good the No. 6 University of Denver Pioneers had been in 2016, DU came onto the ice against the No. 4 St. Cloud State Huskies with little purpose and seemed to try too hard to make the perfect play. Nick is providing live game coverage, opinion, and taking on fans from St. Cloud, Minnesota-Duluth and North Dakota along with the Target Center crowd. It could be 70,000 to 1 this weekend. Anyone who knows Nick likes these odds!

The game tonight starts at 6:30 MT – DU vs. St. Cloud State University. Nick’s tweets are “must reads”. Many Pioneer fans watch the games or listen to Jay Stickney and follow along on Twitter.

In the second semifinal at the Frozen Faceoff on Friday, the No. 6 University of Denver Pioneers will skate against the No. 4 St. Cloud State University Huskies at the Target Center in Minneapolis. Gabe Levin Named First NCHC Post-Graduate Scholarship Recipient

The NCHC announced this morning that Gabe Levin, senior center and assistant captain for the University of Denver hockey team, is the inaugural recipient of the conference’s post-graduate scholarship. Entering the 2015-16 season, the conference announced several new on- and off-ice policy changes. Among them was the creation of the post-graduate scholarship program.
