Denver was selected for the Utah regional competition, which started today, April 2. In a surprising turn of events, the NCAA placed unseeded teams more or less in their nearest geographical regional competition. Denver returns to the site of their season high performance, the Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City. The University of Utah plays host to regional competition where the top two finishers proceed to national semifinals. Continue reading Gymnastics Regional Preview

Denver Rides Matt Davis’ Heroics to Earn Program’s 6th Frozen Four Berth in 9 Years
So much for all the hand-wringing and bellyaching about blown leads and inconsistent hockey over the last four months. None of that matters now, thanks to the #3-seed Denver Pioneers’ 3-1 victory over the top overall seed Boston College Eagles in the Manchester Regional final. The win gives the Pioneers their second-straight Frozen Four berth, a chance to win their second-straight national title, which would be the program’s third in four years, and their 6th Frozen Four in 9 years, dating back to 2016. Oh, and all they had to do to achieve all of that was to beat the only other team that can rival their success since 2000 – Boston College. Not bad for a Sunday night in late March. Part 3: Reaffirming Our Mission or: How We Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Sausage
The last few days and weeks have been difficult for everyone. Based on the statistics and volume of comments, Parts I and II struck a chord among the DU community. But we took no joy or satisfaction in what we reported.
Let’s be clear – we call ourselves LetsGoDU for a reason.
Our loud and passionate fandom has served us well for 20+ years. Our goals will forever remain to elevate and celebrate DU Athletics, connect our fans to DU, and generate school spirit and pride in our alma mater. And, while these are our goals, we also believe that pursuing them is a serious responsibility – especially in a local media landscape with an embarrassing lack of DU coverage. We believe that shedding some light on how the proverbial DU Athletics sausage is made when the need arises is part of that responsibility.

Alex Bump has been a problem all season long for Western Michigan’s opponents and tonight, in the NCHC Frozen Faceoff Championship game – the last one in St. Paul – he was the difference. The #3 seed Denver Pioneers shot out to a 3-0 lead in the second period but the #1 seed Western Michigan Broncos, led by their leading scorer, came back in the third to tie it before Bump scored the game-winner just 22 seconds into the second overtime.
