Denver and Notre Dame taking lacrosse rivalry to the Frozen Four

CHICAGO – “Notre Dame and Denver. It is what it is…it was all we thought it was going to be,” DU lacrosse head coach Bill Tierney said with a laugh a few weeks after his team beat the Notre Dame Fighting Irish with a last-second goal from Connor Cannizzaro. Denver’s win was just the latest in a long streak of close, exciting games between the two top five men’s lacrosse programs. Our very own Nick Tremaroli has departed Denver for Chicago, Illinois to cover the 2017 Frozen Four at the United Center.

The Pioneers will be going for their eighth national championship with a #1 seed (31-7-4). They start Thursday night against the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Nick will be providing live coverage for LetsGoDU at media events, games, and one-on-one interviews. Making Will Butcher’s case for the Hobey Baker

In case you missed the announcement or live under a rock, University of Denver hockey captain and star defenseman Will Butcher was named to the Hobey Hat Trick las week. The Hobey Hat Trick is comprised of the three finalists for the National Player of the Year award and the other two finalists are forwards Mike Vecchione from Union and Zach Aston-Reese from Northeastern.

Denver hockey locker room upgrade finally gets green light

After years of fundraising, the University of Denver hockey team is finally getting its much-needed locker room upgrade. According to Mike Chambers of the Denver Post, DU has officially given the green light to the $2.1 million upgrade to be completed by the time the puck drops on the 2017-18 season. Jim Montgomery wins Spencer Penrose Award, named National Coach of the Year

CCM and the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) announced today that University of Denver head coach Jim Montgomery has won the Spencer Penrose Award which is given to the Division I Men’s Coach of the Year. Below is the schedule of social events orchestrated by LetsGoDU founder Damien Goddard for the Frozen Four weekend. Obviously, all the Chicago events are optional (except the game(s) of course). But, you do not want to miss Thursday afternoon at Howells & Hood (1-5pm) and the official University of Denver reception and watch (6:30-8:30pm) at Park Tavern.

If you can make it to any of these events, we’ll see you there. Of course, food and drinks for unofficial events are the responsibility of each attendee.
