The Denver Proscess: Reload, Reconstruct and Reproduce Excellence

It’s no secret that the University of Denver Pioneers hockey program underwent some substantial changes during the offseason. Everything from the internals of the team makeup and positions within the coaching staff, to the literal gutting of the locker room to give way to luxurious renovations.

The Pioneers didn’t just lose five influential players who each embodied the very essence of the Denver hockey culture, but the program also lost the man who reinstated Denver’s tradition of excellence. The departures of former head coach Jim Montgomery and household names in Henrik Borgström, Dylan Gambrell, Blake Hillman, Logan O’Connor, and Troy Terry are perceivably devastating.

Phil Housley vaults to top of Panthers’ list

Most recent reports coming out of South Florida have Nashville Predators assistant coach Phil Housley moving to the top of the Florida Panther coaching candidate list – with DU’s Jim Montgomery in a solid secondary position.  General Manager Dale Tallon will not be able to interview Housley until the end of the Preds’ Stanley Cup Final run against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Lukosevicius and Jaillet shine as Denver wins eighth National Title

CHICAGO – They did it. The University of Denver Pioneers are back on top of the college hockey world. Sophomore forward Jarid Lukosevicius scored a second period hat trick and junior goalie Tanner Jaillet made 38 saves as the Pioneers beat the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs 3-2 in the National Championship Game at the United Center. Ultimate team player Evan Ritt finding his game at Frozen Four

CHICAGO – Over the course of this season, the University of Denver Pioneers hockey team has gotten significant contributions from all four lines. It’s been one of the reasons why the Pioneers have made it to the National Championship Game, to be played against Minnesota Duluth tomorrow night. Denver and Notre Dame taking lacrosse rivalry to the Frozen Four

CHICAGO – “Notre Dame and Denver. It is what it is…it was all we thought it was going to be,” DU lacrosse head coach Bill Tierney said with a laugh a few weeks after his team beat the Notre Dame Fighting Irish with a last-second goal from Connor Cannizzaro. Denver’s win was just the latest in a long streak of close, exciting games between the two top five men’s lacrosse programs. This Thursday evening, though, the rivalry between the two schools hits the ice on college hockey’s biggest stage at the Frozen Four. Heartbreak fueling Denver’s push for National Championship

Denver hockey locker room upgrade finally gets green light

After years of fundraising, the University of Denver hockey team is finally getting its much-needed locker room upgrade. According to Mike Chambers of the Denver Post, DU has officially given the green light to the $2.1 million upgrade to be completed by the time the puck drops on the 2017-18 season.
