Pioneers reach fifth Championship Weekend in seven years with delightfully boring Quarterfinal victory

With a 16-4 victory over Notre Dame in the NCAA Quarterfinal round, the University of Denver men’s lacrosse team has earned its fourth trip to Championship Weekend in the last five years. Trevor Baptiste won 21-of-22 faceoffs (no, that’s not a typo) and the Pioneers simply imposed their will on the Irish today. Trevor Baptiste dominates as Pioneers shoot down Falcons in NCAA First Round

DENVER – Air Force really never had a chance. Trevor Baptiste was on fire both at the X and in the offensive half of the field and he nearly singlehandedly ended the Falcons’ season as his 5th-seeded University of Denver Pioneers topped the Air Force Academy 17-10. Pioneers clinch #1 seed in BIG EAST Tournament with Senior Day win over Providence

There’s still one week left in the regular season, but the #2 University of Denver Pioneers men’s lacrosse team now knows it will be the #1 seed for the BIG EAST Conference Tournament in Providence. Thanks to a 12-2 victory over the only team that could catch them in the standings and the hosts of the conference tournament, the Providence College Friars. Between the third and fourth quarters today at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium, junior All-American FOGO Trevor Baptiste won six straight faceoffs to lead the #1 University of Denver Pioneers to a big 14-9 victory over the #15 Duke University Blue Devils.
