As we exit the dog days of summer, we have pulled together some miscellaneous stories of general interest.
- With falling state oil revenue, Alaska-Fairbanks and Alaska-Anchorage may be forced to drop their DI hockey programs.
- A good interview with Rodney Billups about his approach to coaching at DU was published in Today’s U Sports.
- LaxPower interviewed Bill Tierney on the ‘new’ Faceoff Rules which are not new according to Tierney. The most interesting proposed lacrosse Experimental Rule changes are awarding 2 points for goals scored within 30 seconds of gaining possession, a rule aimed at increasing the speed of the game.
- UND signed a good TV Deal with Midco for $1.425M over five years. Midco will cover production and talent costs, an obvious nod to UND’s financial struggles.
- Big 12 Expansion is expected to add two new members. This report states that a decision will be made by year-end. Early favorites are Houston and BYU.
- Sr. defender Reagan Dunk is on the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy ‘watch list’ along with 28 other soccer players from around the nation. The award is the equivalent of the Heisman Award for football.
- C.J. Bobbitt got some Hometown Press and looks to be a major contributor on the court for his sophomore season. The article touts a comment by Chauncey Billups that Bobbitt had ‘NBA potential’ with better conditioning.
- We all know Denver won the 2016 Learfield Director’s Cup again with 433 points, 52nd overall. So, who are DU’s pursuers? UC-Santa Barbara (76th – 283), Gonzaga (98th – 180), Wichita State (98th – 180), and Boston University (101st – 175).
- Thinking of returning to Denver to live? According to The Denver Post, high-end Real Estate is being over-built. Denver may be hitting another real estate bubble.
- Finally, the best summer job in Denver? According to the Denver Post, it may be diving at Casa Bonita for $12.00 per hour. Just don’t eat the food!

Saw the Dineen mention. That would be a great move and awesome to see a Pioneer snag the Avs HC job!
