WATCH: Jim Montgomery talks 12th straight win over CC, first place in the NCHC

Last night, the #2 University of Denver Pioneers went into the World Arena and skated the Colorado College Tigers out of the building with a 5-1 victory. It was Denver’s 12th straight victory over their in-state rival and the victory vaulted them over UMD and into first place in the NCHC. On top of it all, the win was Denver’s 20th of the year, which made it 16 straight seasons with at least 20 wins (the Tenzer Streak).

DU head coach Jim Montgomery was pleased with his team’s effort throughout the weekend as they clinched their third straight season sweep of the Kittens.

Denver travels to Oxford, Ohio next weekend to take on the Miami (OH) RedHawks. The Pios have clinched home-ice advantage in the first round of the NCHC Tournament, so now the race is on for the Penrose Cup between DU and UMD. Saturday’s game will be broadcast on ASN at 6 PM MT.
