Omaha, The Land of Have a Great Day!

Denver Hockey travels to Omaha for a two-game set this upcoming weekend. Happy Traveler Magazine named Omaha the ‘most polite city’ in America. According to the authors, citizens display remarkable politeness. Here are some of their observations:

  • Most of the inbound calls to the city’s 911 emergency response center began with, “Sorry, I don’t want to bother you but…”
  • Police are frequently dispatched to 4-way stops when confused motorists are waiting for the other car to ‘go next’.

  • The Next Door app for Omaha is full of positive comments and observations.
  • United Airlines cited that it takes an extra 18 minutes to board planes at the Omaha Airport: “After you”, “No, after you,” “you were first”, “Yes, but you have a bigger bag,” “I’m in no rush,”  “I love the back-of-the-plane middle seat by the restroom,” “You need more legroom,” “I insist.”, …
  • Apple reports that the happy face emoji is used more by Omaha residents than any other city in America.
