Today, Denver Athletics’ ‘X’ account (formerly Twitter) announced Tommy Bruner merchandise sales along with authentic gameday basketball jerseys featuring Bruner, Isaiah Carr and Tyson Garff. DU collaborated with the Brandr Group which coordinated merchandise sales via Athletes Thread and the Denver student-athletes. The deal falls under an undisclosed NIL (name, image & likeness) licensing agreement between the student-athletes and Athletes Thread.
Tommy Bruner is the odds-on favorite to win the NCAA scoring championship this season with two regular-season games to play. Bruner’s jersey is sure to be a collectible due to his season-long success leading the nation in scoring and the Summit League in assists. Merchandise sales will be offered exclusively via the Athletes Thread website.
This is a win-win for fans and our student-athletes.

Dunker is glad DU is getting involved with NIL’s at last.
Can we get gymnastics athletes’ merch too? Make them in children’s sizes so all the young gymnasts who regularly attend DU meets can support their favorite athletes!

I believe the athletes themselves have to go thru the Brandr Group directly which coordinated merchandise sales via Athletes Thread. That leaves DU at ‘arm’s length’ from the transaction for NIL compliance.
