Frozen Faceoff Team Profile: St. Cloud State Huskies

In the second semifinal at the Frozen Faceoff on Friday, the No. 6 University of Denver Pioneers will skate against the No. 4 St. Cloud State University Huskies at the Target Center in Minneapolis. Gabe Levin Named First NCHC Post-Graduate Scholarship Recipient

The NCHC announced this morning that Gabe Levin, senior center and assistant captain for the University of Denver hockey team, is the inaugural recipient of the conference’s post-graduate scholarship. Entering the 2015-16 season, the conference announced several new on- and off-ice policy changes. Among them was the creation of the post-graduate scholarship program. Denver Clinches Frozen Faceoff Berth in Double Overtime Thriller

Just less than 9 minutes into the second overtime, freshman Colin Staub wrapped around the net and slid the puck past Nebraska-Omaha’s goalie to punch the University of Denver’s ticket to the NCHC Frozen Faceoff for a 4-3 double overtime victory. Denver Takes Early Series Lead, Tops Omaha 5-2

In what was always going to be a hard-fought, physical playoff game, the No. 6 University of Denver Pioneers topped the No. 17 University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks by a score of 5-2. After a hotly contested two game sweep over the Mavericks for the Pioneers at Magness Arena a week ago, Denver was able to keep extend its winning streak to 10 while putting UNO in a 1-0 series hole. Denver Finishes Senior Weekend Sweep With 2-1 Victory Over Omaha

On a night that saw the No. 7 University of Denver Pioneers’ seniors honored before the opening puck drop, Denver topped the No. 15 University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks 2-1. Thanks to St. Cloud State’s victory over Colorado College earlier in the evening, game two of Senior Weekend proved to be a preview for the first round of the NCHC Tournament next weekend between Denver and Omaha.
