LetsGoDU Inks Clothing Deal with Frozen Four MOP Matt Davis
LetsGoDU and Friends of DU Hockey have signed a NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) deal with DU goaltender Matt Davis. The Most Outstanding Player from last season’s Frozen Four in St. Paul, Minnesota, Davis’ signature will be reproduced alongside artwork on a one-of-a-kind commemorative championship hockey jersey. Five Pioneers Selected During 2024 NHL Draft; Fisher & Pitner Taken by Avalanche
The Minnesota Wild traded up from #13 to #12 overall to take rising sophomore D Zeev Buium, incoming freshmen F Jake Fisher and D Tory Pitner were selected to stay local by the Colorado Avalanche, and for the third time in the last four years and fifth time overall, Denver Hockey had at least five players selected in the NHL Draft. It was yet another banner draft for the Pioneers as the NHL recognized David Carle’s recruiting and coaching prowess once again. With this weekend’s five selections and the transfers of Samu Salminen (NJD, R3 ’21) and Eric Pohlkamp (SJS, R5 ’23), DU Hockey will boast 14 drafted players on its 2024-25 roster. St. Thomas to Join the NCHC in 2026-27
Per a surprising announcement on Wednesday morning, St. Thomas is bolting the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) for the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) ahead of the 2026-27 season. The announcement coincides with the rapid ascension of the Tommies from D3 status several years ago to a full-fledged Division I athletics program. Denver Hockey Announces 2024-25 Schedule, Wisconsin & Northeastern to Visit Magness Arena
The defending national champions, Denver Hockey, announced their 2024-25 schedule Wednesday. Denver opens the season with a trip to David Carle’s home state of Alaska on October 5th & 6th to face the Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves. The Pioneers then return to home ice against Northeastern two weeks later. The non-conference schedule is highlighted by a Wisconsin Badger trip to Magness on October 25th and 26th, followed by a road trip to face Yale on November 1st & 2nd. DU’s David Carle to Coach USA World Junior Team Again
For the second season in a row, Denver head coach David Carle has been tabbed to coach Team USA at the IIHF World Junior Tournament in Ottawa, Canada. Sean Behrens Signs with Avs
Two-time NCAA champion junior defenseman Sean Behrens signed a three-year NHL deal with the Colorado Avalanche last night. He will begin his professional career with the Colorado Eagles of the AHL on an amateur tryout contract. His NHL deal will begin in the fall. Shai Buium & Massimo Rizzo Sign
Two two-time NCAA champions have decided to forego their senior season and turn pro. DU juniors Shai Buium and Massimo Rizzo have been signed to entry-level contracts by the Detroit Red Wings and Philadelphia Flyers, respectively.
