#1 DU men’s soccer (7-0-4) faces their biggest remaining regular season challenge tonight. DU faces fellow #1 (United Soccer Coaches Poll) Pitt at Ambrose Urbanic Field at 5 pm MT. Following a successful opening 6-game non-conference road trip against power programs, Denver has found themselves ranked #1 in the Top Drawer Coaches Poll for the past month. Pitt, meanwhile is currently #2 in the Top Drawer poll. Denver’s remaining relatively soft Summit League schedule will not help their national standing. #1 DU’s Offensive Outburst Sinks St. Thomas, 5-0
DU men’s soccer (7-0-4, 2-0) played the St. Thomas Tommies at Pioneer Field Saturday afternoon. (3-5-2, 0-3). It felt like a matter of time until the Pioneers unleashed their formidable offense. following a mere three goals in their last three games. The Saturday sun-drenched alumni-day match was the perfect setting for DU players and fans. Two goals in the first half and another goal early in the opening minutes of the second half extinguished any hope for the visitors as they fell 5-0. DU Opens Conference Play with 3-2 Win Over ORU
#1 Denver men’s soccer (6-0-4, 1-0) opened Summit League play Wednesday night against Oral Roberts (4-3-3, 1-1) with a 3-2 victory at Pioneer Field.
Despite a 10-day break between their victory over Seattle and this game, the Pioneers didn’t miss a beat and dominated play early. DU’s Ronan Wynne scored in the 27th minute and DU took the 1-0 lead to halftime. The Golden Eagles had no shots for the half while DU had 7 shots with only Wynne’s on target. #1 Denver Squeaks by Seattle University, 2-1
Thursday night against Portland, DU (5-0-4) dominated every statistical category – except scoring. Denver outshot their visitors 21-6 with eleven shots on target and nothing to show for it. The Pioneers exited Pioneer Field with a 0-0 tie. Fans were left to wonder if the grueling opening schedule, nine games in a month, were taking their toll. DU Athletics Fields Another #1 Ranked Team
Denver Hockey ascended to the top of college hockey polls on April 13th, 2024 after winning the program’s NCAA record 10th title. Now, following a 4-1 win over Yale in its home opener, DU men’s soccer (4-0-3) has ascended to the top of college soccer. The Top Drawer Soccer Poll placed DU in the top spot while the United Soccer Coaches Poll had the Pioneers at #2, trailing West Virginia out of the Sun Belt. #2 Denver Boots Yale in Home Opener, 4-1
A record crowd of 1,803 witnessed #2 Denver (4-0-3) dismantle Yale and maintain their unbeaten record in the Pioneers’ 2024 home opener. After falling behind 1-0 early, the Pioneers reeled off four goals to easily finish off the Bulldogs. The victory kicks off a five-match home stand. Denver Completes Unbeaten Road Trip, Ties UCLA 0-0
#3/2 Denver men’s soccer (3-0-3) successfully completed one of the most challenging road trips in program history. DU’s final match of a season-opening six-match road trip to start the season took them to Los Angeles on Monday night to face the #6 UCLA Bruins (2-1-2) at Wallis Annenberg Stadium. #2 DU Defeats Creighton, 3-1
Epic Comeback Leads to 2-2 Draw in Dallas
#9/4 Denver men’s soccer, with a mere two days rest, looked down-and-out in Dallas. Trailing 2-0 to #16 SMU, the Pioneers unbeaten record looked to be in serious jeopardy in their fourth road-trip of six to begin the season. But the Pioneers battled back for a draw, overcoming a two goal deficit, their first such achievement in seven years.
DU Surrenders Late Goal in 2-2 Draw at Washington
#4 Denver held a late 2-1 lead in Seattle but Washington solved Denver in the final five minutes to eke out a 2-2 tie with the Pioneers Thursday night.
